When Maria Santana Montes was born in 1926, in Nayarit, Mexico, her father, Isidro Santana Landeros, was 21 and her mother, Carmen Montes Navarrete, was 21. She married Casimiro Escalante Gonzalez on 17 September 1940, in Amatlán de Jora, La Yesca, Nayarit, Mexico. They were the parents of at least 3 sons and 1 daughter. She died in 2000, in her hometown, at the age of 74.
