He married Margaret Myrtle May on 8 February 1906, in Jay, Indiana, United States. He lived in Lucas, Ohio, United States in 1920 and Blue Township, Jackson, Missouri, United States in 1930. He died on 5 July 1963, in Philadelphia, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, United States, at the age of 79, and was buried in Ambler, Montgomery, Pennsylvania, United States.

Lucania is a region of southern Italy thought to have been named in ancient times with a word meaning ‘bright’ or ‘shining’ (compare Lucio ). The Christian name owed its enormous popularity throughout Europe in the Middle Ages to Saint Luke the Evangelist, hence the development of this surname and many vernacular derivatives in most of the languages of Europe.
