When Jonas Samuelsson was born on 7 January 1764, in Sjöatorp, Kronoberg, Sweden, his father, Samuel Mathisson, was 30 and his mother, Maria Mansdotter, was 21. He married Sara Persdotter on 4 October 1789, in Dädesjö, Kronoberg, Sweden. They were the parents of at least 8 sons and 3 daughters. He died on 27 February 1850, in Dädesjö, Kronoberg, Sweden, at the age of 86, and was buried in Dädesjö, Kronoberg, Sweden.
