He married Jeanette Creigh "Jane" McCleary on 8 July 1813, in Greenbrier, Virginia, United States. They were the parents of at least 9 sons and 6 daughters. He lived in Chickahominy District, Charles City County, Virginia, United States in 1860 and Mountain Cove District, Fayette, West Virginia, United States in 1870. He died on 2 January 1871, in Lookout, Fayette, West Virginia, United States, at the age of 81, and was buried in Jennette Cemetery, Lookout, Fayette, Virginia, United States.
