When Colonel George Alderson was born on 20 November 1789, in Greenbrier, Virginia, United States, his father, Joseph Alderson, was 18 and his mother, Mary or Polly Newman, was 20. He married Jeanette Creigh "Jane" McCleary on 8 July 1813, in Greenbrier, Virginia, United States. They were the parents of at least 9 sons and 6 daughters. He lived in Chickahominy District, Charles City County, Virginia, United States in 1860 and Mountain Cove District, Fayette, West Virginia, United States in 1870. He died on 2 January 1871, in Lookout, Fayette, West Virginia, United States, at the age of 81, and was buried in Jennette Cemetery, Lookout, Fayette, Virginia, United States.
