When Joseph Clift was born on 13 September 1750, in Quinebaug, Windham, Connecticut Colony, British Colonial America, his father, Capt. Samuel Clift, was 40 and his mother, Lydia Dogget, was 38. He married Elizabeth Stanton on 29 November 1774. They were the parents of at least 3 sons and 3 daughters. He died on 19 May 1827, in Skaneateles, Skaneateles, Onondaga, New York, United States, at the age of 76, and was buried in Lake View Cemetery, Skaneateles, Onondaga, New York, United States.
