He married Henrikka Nicolina Rasmusdatter on 13 March 1864, in Nordre Trondhjems amt, Norway. They were the parents of at least 2 sons and 4 daughters. He died on 28 July 1922, at the age of 85, and was buried in Nord-Trøndelag, Norway.
