Name Meaning

English (Lancashire): habitational name from Worsley in Lancashire or Worsley Farm in Rock (Worcestershire). The Lancashire placename may derive from an Old English personal name Weorcgȳth (genitive Weorcgȳthes) + Old English lēah ‘wood, woodland clearing’. The Worcestershire placename may take its name from a lost stream-name Worf + Old English lēah.
