When Brite Pedersdatter Gjerde was born in 1729, in Gjerde, Kvam, Hordaland, Norway, her father, Peder Gotschalksen Gjerde, was 23 and her mother, Bol Heinesdatter Øyre, was 30. She married Askjel Samsonsen Øyre in 1755. They were the parents of at least 2 sons and 5 daughters. She died in 1799, in Øyre, Kvinnherad, Hordaland, Norway, at the age of 70.
