The Cuban Missile Crisis was a 13-day confrontation between the United States and the Soviet Union because of Soviet ballistic missile deployment in Cuba. This confrontation was the closest that the Cold War became a nuclear war.
1964 · The Old Hansen Planetarium
The Old Hansen Planetarium has served many functions throughout its history. Including, the Salt Lake City Public Library, the Hansen Planetarium and the O.C. Tanner Office. During its time as the Hansen Planetarium, the building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The Planetarium officially closed in 2003 before the opening of the Clark Planetarium.

Transferred use of the Scottish surname derived from the lands of Lesslyn in Aberdeenshire (a place name perhaps named in Gaelic as leas cuilinn ‘garden of hollies’).
