He married Mary Nancy Empey on 5 January 1834, in Williamsburg, South Dundas, Stormont Dundas and Glengarry, Ontario, Canada. They were the parents of at least 2 sons and 1 daughter. He lived in Osnabruck, Stormont Dundas and Glengarry, Ontario, Canada for about 10 years. He died on 3 February 1898, in Stormont Dundas and Glengarry, Ontario, Canada, at the age of 87, and was buried in Ingleside, South Stormont, Stormont Dundas and Glengarry, Ontario, Canada.

1883 · Mining Boom

In 1883, there was a mining boom in Northern Ontario when mineral deposits were found near Sudbury. Thomas Flanagan was the blacksmith for the Canadian Pacific Railway that noticed the deposits in the river.
