When Christof Spiess was born on 23 April 1769, in Zürich, Switzerland, his father, Hans Conrad Spiess, was 32 and his mother, Elisabeth Ringli, was 30. He married Anna Maria Spiess on 1 August 1793. They were the parents of at least 1 daughter. He died on 20 February 1831, at the age of 61.
