When Durs or Ursen Schlup was born on 17 October 1784, in Arch, Bern, Switzerland, his father, Durs Schlup, was 42 and his mother, Barbara Schlup, was 44. He married Anna Maria Schwab on 4 September 1813. They were the parents of at least 5 sons and 2 daughters. He died on 26 December 1854, at the age of 70.
