When Marie Thodsen was born on 29 December 1888, in New Zealand, her father, Johan Christian Thodsen, was 50 and her mother, Caroline Elise Knudsen, was 40. She married Walter Lawrence Sattrup in 1915, in New Zealand. She died on 22 November 1938, in her hometown, at the age of 49, and was buried in Te Awamutu, Waikato, New Zealand.
