When James Ervin was born on 6 September 1778, in Craven, South Carolina, United States, his father, Hugh Ervin Sr., was 48 and his mother, Elizabeth James, was 32. He married Elizabeth Witherspoon on 31 May 1805. They were the parents of at least 2 sons and 2 daughters. He died on 30 September 1838, in Darlington, South Carolina, United States, at the age of 60.

1781 · The First Constitution

Serving the newly created United States of America as the first constitution, the Articles of Confederation were an agreement among the 13 original states preserving the independence and sovereignty of the states.
