When Daniel Murphy was born on 3 October 1798, in Frederick, Virginia, United States, his father, Hugh Murphy, was 42 and his mother, Mary Beatty, was 34. He married Cynthia Wildman on 1 June 1824, in Highland, Ohio, United States. They were the parents of at least 4 sons and 3 daughters. He lived in Iowa, United States in 1870 and Buena Vista Township, Jasper, Iowa, United States in 1880. He died on 25 February 1890, in Murphy, Jasper, Iowa, United States, at the age of 91, and was buried in Slagel Cemetery, Newton Township, Jasper, Iowa, United States.

1800 · Movement to Washington D.C.

While the growth of the new nation was exponential, the United States didn’t have permanent location to house the Government. The First capital was temporary in New York City but by the second term of George Washington the Capital moved to Philadelphia for the following 10 years. Ultimately during the Presidency of John Adams, the Capital found a permanent home in the District of Columbia.

1812 · Monumental Church Built

The Monumental Church was built between 1812-1814 on the sight where the Richmond Theatre fire had taken place. It is a monument to those that died in the fire.
