When Jan Jilderts Zuidema was born on 14 April 1794, in Sint Jacobiparochie, Friesland, Netherlands, his father, Jildert Roelofs Zuidema, was 35 and his mother, Jantje Sjoerds, was 31. He married Rinsje de Roos on 3 May 1818, in Het Bildt, Friesland, Netherlands. They were the parents of at least 3 daughters. He died on 3 February 1825, in Het Bildt, Friesland, Netherlands, at the age of 30.
