When Elisabeth Rohner was born on 6 November 1844, in Schwellbrunn, Appenzell Ausserrhoden, Switzerland, her father, Wilhelm Rohner, was 45 and her mother, Anna Katharina Knellwolf, was 39. She married Johannes Frischknecht in 1866. They were the parents of at least 3 sons and 2 daughters. She died on 8 September 1911, at the age of 66.
