When Hezekiah Bowen was born on 20 June 1715, in Rehoboth, Bristol, Plymouth Colony, British Colonial America, his father, Elisha Bowen, was 21 and his mother, Susannah Seamans, was 23. He married Mary Ormsbee on 12 November 1740, in Swansea, Bristol, Massachusetts, United States. They were the parents of at least 4 sons. He lived in Greenfield, Saratoga, New York, United States for about 30 years. He died on 16 May 1785, in Rehoboth, Bristol, Plymouth Colony, British Colonial America, at the age of 69.

1775

During the six-year Revolutionary war, more of the fights took place in New Jersey than any other colony. Over 296 engagements between opposing forces were recorded. One of the largest conflicts of the entire war took place between Morristown and Middlebrook, referred to as the "Ten Crucial Days" and remembered by the famous phrase "the times that try men's souls". The revolution won some of their most desperately needed victories during this time.

Welsh: Anglicized form of Welsh ap Owain ‘son of Owain’ (see Owen ), with fused patronymic marker (a)p, which is normally voiced before a vowel.

Irish: Anglicized form of Gaelic Ó Buadhacháin ‘descendant of Buadhachán’, a diminutive of Buadhach ‘victorious’ (see Bohan ).

Irish: used to ‘translate’ Ó Cnáimhín ‘descendant of Cnáimhín’, a personal name meaning ‘little bone’ or ‘little body’, see Nevin 1.
