When Joseph Perret was born on 17 December 1757, in Magland, Haute-Savoie, France, his father, Claude- Louis Perret, was 40 and his mother, Claudine Marie Coudray, was 24. He married Marie Francoise Clement on 30 October 1782, in Cluses, Haute-Savoie, France. They were the parents of at least 2 sons and 3 daughters. He died on 15 February 1825, in Cluses, Haute-Savoie, France, at the age of 67.

1778 · Treaty of Alliance with American Colonies

After the battle of Saratoga France realized that America might be worth backing. They formed an alliance with the colonies and sent naval fleets to help with the war.

1783 · Treaty of Paris is Signed 

While Benjamin Franklin was the ambassador to France he negotiated with the French during the war to keep them on the American side. At the same time the Treaty of Paris was established.

1792 · Beginnings of the Republic
