When Magdalena Lörtscher was born on 22 September 1793, in Spiez, Bern, Switzerland, her father, Abraham Lörtscher, was 23 and her mother, Katharina Meinen, was 23. She married Peter Schmid on 11 March 1821. They were the parents of at least 3 sons and 4 daughters. She died on 7 September 1846, at the age of 52.
