When Han Ulrich Witzig was born on 26 January 1708, in Zur Eich, Jaun, Fribourg, Switzerland, his father, Konrad Witzig, was 41 and his mother, Verena Lth, was 37. He married Dorothea Spahn on 7 June 1736. They were the parents of at least 6 sons and 2 daughters. He died on 19 January 1783, in Laufen-Uhwiesen, Zürich, Switzerland, at the age of 74.
