When Jane Schurman was born on 2 February 1813, in Bedeque, Prince, Prince Edward Island, Canada, her father, Isaac Schurman, was 38 and her mother, Jane 'Jennie' Lefurgey, was 28. She married Thomas Wright on 2 June 1840. They were the parents of at least 3 sons and 5 daughters. She died on 12 February 1881, at the age of 68.
