Between civilian and military deaths France lost 1,697,800 people and 4,266,000 were wounded.

    The Treaty of Versailles was signed in Paris to formally end WWI. It established Peace between the allied forces and set guidelines for Germany.

    Second World War. Defeat and occupation by Germany. General de Gaulle leads the Resistance from London and Algiers. Allied victory came on May 8, 1945.
