"Samuel Coster, a Dutch playwright, helped establish the ""First Nederduytsche Academy"". It was created with the intent to offer higher education to common citizens and offer higher quality theatre than what was available before. The inauguration took place on September 23, 1617 and included two plays: ""Apollo"" by Suffridus Sixtinus and ""Vande moordt begaen aen Wilhelm van Orangien"" by Gijsbert van Hoghendorp."

Anglicized form of the Gaelic names Ca(i)trìona (Scottish) and Caitríona (Irish), which are themselves forms of Katherine . As the accents show, it is stressed on the second i. The name is now also used elsewhere in the English-speaking world, although it is still especially popular among people of Scottish ancestry. It attracted wider attention as the title of Robert Louis Stevenson's novel Catriona ( 1893 ), sequel to Kidnapped.
