He married Ettjen Hindriks Harhuis on 10 July 1796, in Weiwerd, Delfzijl, Groningen, Netherlands. They were the parents of at least 3 sons and 1 daughter. He died on 25 March 1814, in Stedum, Groningen, Netherlands, at the age of 46.
