When Karen Christoffersdatter Dahl was born on 18 February 1837, in Leksvik Prestegjeld, Nord-Trøndelag, Norway, her father, Christopher Christensen, was 34 and her mother, Ingeborg Ottesdatter, was 32. She married Johan Arent Nielsen Tømmerdal about 1860. They were the parents of at least 2 sons and 5 daughters. She died on 31 May 1912, at the age of 75, and was buried in Leksvik, Leksvik Prestegjeld, Nord-Trøndelag, Norway.
