When Christopher McRae was born in May 1787, in Ross-shire, Scotland, United Kingdom, his father, John MacRae, was 22 and his mother, Catherine McIntosh, was 20. He married Selinda Phelps on 6 March 1817, in Dunham, Missisquoi, Quebec, Canada. They were the parents of at least 5 sons and 7 daughters. He lived in Ontario, Ontario, Canada in 1834 and DeKalb, Illinois, United States in 1841. He died on 5 May 1858, in Mayfield Township, DeKalb, Illinois, United States, at the age of 71, and was buried in South Grove Cemetery, South Grove Township, DeKalb, Illinois, United States.

1788 · The First Presidential Election

The First Presidential election was held in the newly created United States of America. Under the Articles of Confederation, the executive branch of the country was not set up for an individual to help lead the nation. So, under the United States Constitution they position was put in.
