When Ingeborg Håkansdotter was born in 1686, in Kroppa, Värmland, Sweden, her father, Hakan Pehrsson, was 32 and her mother, Maria Hendricksson, was 32. She married Sigfrid Karlsson on 9 September 1711, in Kroppa, Värmland, Sweden. They were the parents of at least 2 sons and 4 daughters. She died on 5 May 1762, in her hometown, at the age of 76.

By 1658, Sweden had become a great power in northern Europe. The Great Northern War from 1700 through 1721 resulted in the loss of land amassed by Sweden in areas such as Germany, Norway, and Denmark. Nearly 200,000 Swedes lost their lives due to the war while Sweden lost much of its dominance in the Baltic Region.
