He married Catherine Heck on 2 August 1866, in Frisange, Esch-sur-Alzette, Luxembourg. They were the parents of at least 5 sons and 6 daughters. He died on 5 July 1918, in Esch-sur-Alzette, Esch-sur-Alzette, Luxembourg, at the age of 77.

From the Late Latin name Dominicus, a derivative of dominus ‘lord’. It was used mainly by Roman Catholics, in honour of St Dominic ( 1170–1221 ), founder of the Dominican order of monks, but has enjoyed wider appeal since the 1970s.
