Dominik Heirent was born on 20 August 1840, in Junglinster, Grevenmacher, Luxembourg as the son of Jean-Nicolas Heirend and Anne Margarete Schmit. He married Catharina Heck on 2 August 1866, in Frisange, Esch-sur-Alzette, Luxembourg. They were the parents of at least 6 sons and 6 daughters. He lived in Luxembourg in 1847 and Esch-sur-Alzette, Luxembourg in 1887. He died on 5 July 1918, in Esch-sur-Alzette, Esch-sur-Alzette, Luxembourg, at the age of 77.
