When Hans Gerber was born on 17 April 1705, in Langnau im Emmental, Bern, Switzerland, his father, Hans Gerber, was 37 and his mother, Elsbeth Kraehenbuehl, was 33. He married Anna Räss in 1736. They were the parents of at least 4 sons and 4 daughters. He died on 1 October 1757, in his hometown, at the age of 52, and was buried in Langnau im Emmental, Bern, Switzerland.
