He married Maria Isabelle Harmon in 1888. They were the parents of at least 6 sons and 9 daughters. He lived in Gray Township, White, Arkansas, United States in 1910 and Clay, Illinois, United States in 1920. He died on 10 February 1944, in Clay City, Clay, Illinois, United States, at the age of 77, and was buried in Bible Grove Cemetery, Bible Grove, Clay, Illinois, United States.

1867 · Sorry Mr. President, You can't do that.

This Act was to restrict the power of the President removing certain office holders without approval of the Senate. It denies the President the power to remove any executive officer who had been appointed by the president with the advice and consent of the Senate, unless the Senate approved the removal during the next full session of Congress. The Amendment was later repealed.

In 1871, a cow kicked over a lantern, causing a fire that burned down half of Chicago. Today this city is the third largest in the US.

Bauxite a rock with relatively high aluminum content, is the main source of aluminum for the world. When it was discovered in Arkansas it changed the state. The city of Bauxite, Arkansas was the site of the discovery.
