When William Sharpe was born on 14 October 1842, in Sutton, Brome-Missisquoi, Quebec, Canada, his father, John Sharpe, was 33 and his mother, Elizabeth Kathleen Clark, was 28. He married Lydia Boyd on 10 August 1865, in Port Huron, St. Clair, Michigan, United States. They were the parents of at least 5 sons and 3 daughters. He lived in Enniskillen, Lambton, Ontario, Canada in 1891 and Lambton, Ontario, Canada for about 10 years. He died on 27 November 1924, in Sarnia, Lambton, Ontario, Canada, at the age of 82, and was buried in Lakeview Cemetery, Sarnia, Lambton, Ontario, Canada.
