He married Elizabeth Bryan on 13 September 1846, in Mahoning, Portage, Ohio, United States. They were the parents of at least 3 sons and 4 daughters. He lived in Goshen Township, Mahoning, Ohio, United States for about 10 years. He died on 11 February 1873, at the age of 64, and was buried in Steelville Cemetery, Steelville, Crawford, Missouri, United States.
