When Maluelue Faausuusu Tafua was born on 22 May 1880, in Upolu, Samoa, his father, Fa'aususu Tafua, was 24 and his mother, To'atelevale Sagapolutele, was 64. He married Tu'uautala Ee in 1852, in Ofu, Manu'a, American Samoa. They were the parents of at least 1 son. He died on 12 October 1961, at the age of 81, and was buried in Upolu, Samoa.
