He married Elizabeth Kraus on 17 August 1772, in Cumberland, Pennsylvania, United States. They were the parents of at least 7 sons and 4 daughters. He immigrated to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, United States in 1771 and lived in Newton Township, Cumberland, Pennsylvania, United States in 1790. He registered for military service in 1778. He died on 24 April 1818, in Dublin Township, Huntingdon, Pennsylvania, United States, at the age of 68, and was buried in Shade Gap, Huntingdon, Pennsylvania, United States.
