When Friedrich Ramseyer was born on 19 December 1840, in Signau, Bern, Switzerland, his father, Christen Ramseyer, was 39 and his mother, Elisabetha Kuepfer, was 38. He married Margritha Augsburger on 1 October 1870, in Langnau im Emmental, Bern, Switzerland. They were the parents of at least 4 sons and 3 daughters. He died on 2 June 1926, at the age of 85.
