When Abigail Ogden was born on 1 April 1725, in New Jersey, British Colonial America, her father, Thomas Ogden, was 41 and her mother, Dinah Jean Groesbeck, was 39. She married Thomas Price Jr in 1745, in New Jersey, British Colonial America. They were the parents of at least 12 sons and 6 daughters. She died on 30 January 1802, in New Jersey, United States, at the age of 76, and was buried in First Presbyterian Churchyard, Elizabeth, Union, New Jersey, United States.

1775

During the six-year Revolutionary war, more of the fights took place in New Jersey than any other colony. Over 296 engagements between opposing forces were recorded. One of the largest conflicts of the entire war took place between Morristown and Middlebrook, referred to as the "Ten Crucial Days" and remembered by the famous phrase "the times that try men's souls". The revolution won some of their most desperately needed victories during this time.

1786 · Shays' Rebellion

Caused by war veteran Daniel Shays, Shays' Rebellion was to protest economic and civil rights injustices that he and other farmers were seeing after the Revolutionary War. Because of the Rebellion it opened the eyes of the governing officials that the Articles of Confederation needed a reform. The Rebellion served as a guardrail when helping reform the United States Constitution.

Name Meaning

English (Lancashire and Yorkshire): habitational name from two hamlets named Ogden in Rochdale and Oldham parishes (Lancashire). The placename derives from Old English āc + denu ‘oak valley’.
