When Phebe Glazier was born on 15 June 1820, in Peekskill, Westchester, New York, United States, her father, Walker Glazier, was 30 and her mother, Cornelia Travis, was 29. She lived in Ulysses, Tompkins, New York, United States in 1875 and Covert, Seneca, New York, United States in 1880. She died on 12 December 1899, at the age of 79, and was buried in Grove Cemetery, Trumansburg, Tompkins, New York, United States.

1821 · Financial Relief for Public Land

A United States law to provide financial relief for the purchasers of Public Lands. It permitted the earlier buyers, that couldn't pay completely for the land, to return the land back to the government. This granted them a credit towards the debt they had on land. Congress, also, extended credit to buyer for eight more years. Still while being in economic panic and the shortage of currency made by citizens, the government hoped that with the time extension, the economy would improve.

1827 · Slavery Becomes Illegal in New York State

During the years 1799 to 1827, New York went through a period of gradual emancipation. A Gradual Emancipation Law was passed in 1799 which freed slave children born after July 4, 1799. However, they were indentured until 25 years old for women and 28 years old for men. A law passed 1817 which freed slaves born before 1799, yet delayed their emancipation for ten years. All remaining slaves were freed in New York State on July 4, 1827.
