1901 · Assassination of Mckinley
President William McKinley was shot at the Temple of Music, in the Pan-American Exposition, while shaking hands with the public. Leon Czolgosz shot him twice in the abdomen because he thought it was his duty to do so. McKinley died after eight days of watch and care. He was the third American president to be assassinated. After his death, Congress passed legislation to officially make the Secret Service and gave them responsibility for protecting the President at all times.
1907 · Pike's Market
Pike’s Market is one of the oldest still working farmer’s markets in the US. It is located in Seattle’s central business district, just north of Belltown , and southwest of central waterfront and Elliott Bay. One of the attractions there is the gum wall.

History: Sarah Bunting (1686–1762), born in Matlock, Derbyshire, became a noted Quaker minister in Cross Wicks, NJ. It is believed but not certain that other members of her family, including her father, John Bunting, came with her to NJ sometime before 1704, when her marriage to William Murfin is recorded.
