When Patience Bates was born in 1803, in Grenville, Upper Canada, British North America, her father, George Bates, was 38 and her mother, Patience Churchill, was 36. She married Nathan Dayton Cromwell on 9 December 1824, in Elizabethtown Township, Leeds and Grenville, Ontario, Canada. They were the parents of at least 6 sons and 3 daughters. She lived in Malahide Township, Elgin, Ontario, Canada in 1871 and Woodstock, Oxford, Ontario, Canada in 1881. She died on 27 April 1883, in Norwich, Oxford, Ontario, Canada, at the age of 80.
