Brief Life History of Hans

When Hans Olsen was born in 1778, in Øvervik, Sør-Trøndelag, Norway, his father, Ola Hansen Stordalen Steinøien, was 33 and his mother, Beret Pedersdatter Øvervik, was 32. He married Marie Nilsdatter Stordalsvold on 19 February 1804. They were the parents of at least 2 daughters. He died on 8 April 1860, in Tevldalen, Nord-Trøndelag, Norway, at the age of 82, and was buried in Meråker kirke, Nord-Trøndelag, Norway.

1810 · Vaccinations

Royal order issued by the King of Norway and Denmark in 1810 required everyone to have a certificate of smallpox vaccination. This was also recorded in the Church records. 33

First organized group of emigrants to leave Norway. First emigration to America began with the Sloopers who left in an undersized sloop “Restauration” sailed from Stavanger, Norway on July 4th, 1825.
