He married Marie Nilsdatter Stordalsvold on 19 February 1804. They were the parents of at least 2 daughters. He died on 8 April 1860, in Tevldalen, Nord-Trøndelag, Norway, at the age of 82, and was buried in Meråker kirke, Nord-Trøndelag, Norway.
