When Hans Olssen Stenøyen was born in 1778, in Øvervik, Sør-Trøndelag, Norway, his father, Ola Hansen Stordalen Steinøien, was 33 and his mother, Beret Pedersdatter Overvik, was 32. He married Anne Marie Nilsdatter Stordalsvold on 19 February 1804. They were the parents of at least 2 daughters. He died on 8 April 1860, in Tevldalen, Nord-Trøndelag, Norway, at the age of 82, and was buried in Tevldalen, Nord-Trøndelag, Norway.
