When Paese Autagavaia was born on 1 March 1902, in Vailoa, Palauli, Savai'i, Samoa, her father, Ta'ape Autagavaia, was 21 and her mother, Tofeliuai Leotatoga Lealamanu'a, was 29. She married Lafaele Autagavaia Saipaia Savaiinaea on 24 December 1925, in Mulivai, Samoa. They were the parents of at least 4 sons and 6 daughters. She died on 3 July 1996, at the age of 94, and was buried in Samoa.
