Bernabela Guzman was born on 2 June 1871, in Sololá, Guatemala as the daughter of Eligio Sumoza and Rafaela Guzman. She married Domingo Cabrera on 2 August 1885. They were the parents of at least 4 sons and 8 daughters. She died on 11 February 1938, in Guatemala, at the age of 66, and was buried in Santiago Atitlán, Sololá, Guatemala.
