He married Mary E Strange on 20 January 1865, in Havana, Mason, Illinois, United States. They were the parents of at least 2 sons. He lived in Sand Ridge Twp, Menard, Illinois, United States in 1880 and Oakford, Menard, Illinois, United States in 1900. He died on 29 April 1928, in Farber, Audrain, Missouri, United States, at the age of 86, and was buried in Farber Cemetery, Cuivre Township, Audrain, Missouri, United States.
