When Susan McClanahan was born on 28 August 1772, in Culpeper, Virginia, United States, her father, Rev. William McClanahan II, was 40 and her mother, Mary Marshall, was 35. She married John Montieth Robinson about 1786. They were the parents of at least 15 sons and 3 daughters. She died on 17 March 1848, in Boone, Missouri, United States, at the age of 75.
