When William Harrison was born about 1749, in Franklin, Surry, North Carolina, British Colonial America, his father, John Harrison Sr., was 38 and his mother, Sarah Daniel, was 25. He married Elvire Cooper on 3 January 1786, in Granville, North Carolina, United States. They were the parents of at least 7 sons and 6 daughters. He lived in Louisburg, Franklin, North Carolina, United States in 1800. He registered for military service in 1777. He died on 22 January 1833, in Bedford, Tennessee, United States, at the age of 85.

1767 · Tryon Palace

Built on August 26, 1767, the Tryon Palace became the capitol building for North Carolina. The building was named after William Tryon a British officer and colonial official.

English (northern): from the Middle English personal name Harry or Herry + -son. These were the common pronunciations of Henry (see Harry ).

History: Harrison is an extremely common surname in northern England. One important and influential American family of bearers are descended from Benjamin Harrison, who emigrated from England to VA in 1633 or 1634. Descendants include another Benjamin Harrison (c. 1726–91), who was an activist in the American Revolution and a signer of the Declaration of Independence. His son William Henry Harrison (1773–1841) and great-grandson Benjamin Harrison (1833–1901) both became presidents of the US.
