When George Washington Davis was born on 12 October 1797, in Delaware Township, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, United States, his father, Thomas Davis, was 28 and his mother, Lucia Ruth Burk, was 23. He married Rebecca Warfield on 8 October 1820, in Cincinnati, Hamilton, Ohio, United States. They were the parents of at least 3 sons. He lived in DeWitt, Texas, United States in 1850. He died on 30 January 1853, in Cuero, DeWitt, Texas, United States, at the age of 55, and was buried in Cuero, DeWitt, Texas, United States.

While the growth of the new nation was exponential, the United States didn’t have permanent location to house the Government. The First capital was temporary in New York City but by the second term of George Washington the Capital moved to Philadelphia for the following 10 years. Ultimately during the Presidency of John Adams, the Capital found a permanent home in the District of Columbia.
