He married Karna Andersdotter on 16 April 1827, in Barsebäck, Harjager, Malmöhus, Sweden. They were the parents of at least 2 sons and 3 daughters. He died on 9 June 1871, in his hometown, at the age of 74, and was buried in Barsebäck, Harjager, Malmöhus, Sweden.
