Britta Andersdotter was born on 14 March 1775, in Grofvare, Älvsborg, Sweden as the daughter of Anders Andersson and Martha Svensdotter. She married Andreas Svensson on 7 June 1795, in Grofvare, Älvsborg, Sweden. They were the parents of at least 3 sons and 4 daughters. She died on 26 December 1860, in Sibbared, Od, Älvsborg, Sweden, at the age of 85, and was buried in Alboga, Älvsborg, Sweden.

Name Meaning
Borrowing of the Irish name Brighid ( see Bridget ). This name owes its enormous popularity in Scandinavia, especially in Sweden, to St Birgitta ( 1304–73 ), patron saint of Sweden. She was a noblewoman who bore her husband eight children. After his death, she founded an order of nuns, the ‘Bridgettines’ or Order of the Most Holy Saviour. She also went to Rome, where she attempted to reform religious life.
