He married Caroline Johanne Höege on 12 March 1818, in Sulzfeld, Eppingen, Baden. They were the parents of at least 5 sons and 6 daughters. He died on 26 November 1859, at the age of 68, and was buried in Richen, Eppingen, Baden.
